Or roof. It’s the skylight in our house. It took me quite a few shots to get this right, I wanted a balance of total black in the shadows and enough clarity to see the texture of the wall. I got one flooded out shot that looks like the tunnel you are supposed to see when you die…I like this one, though, it’s got a depressing air about it, like being trapped in a mineshaft.

Melted Crayon Skies
This is what happened just seconds before that first sunset that I posted a few days ago.

And they hang out in deserted northern New Mexico. These stickered signs are strewn along the highway outside Taos.

New Mexico has one thing going for it- amazing light. I know why so many artists have settled here, there is something special in the desert and the colors.
Portrait of a Man
I decided this every single day shit was a little too much with a job and a half already. So, I am not going to worry too much about whether I get a shot every single day. I will just do as well as I can. I have been shooting at least every other day, which is way more than I started out with. So, yeah, not going to beat myself up about it too hard.
Day 6: Portraits
I hate posed photos of people, so try to avoid them at all costs. Bobcat is naturally photogenic.
Day 5: Unusual Subjects
This is a photographer’s dream spot- empty, strange things wherever you look, and lots of lighting challenges.
Day #3: Composition
Faywood Hot Springs, Deming, NM
I love the way the shapes and colors here came out. This was one of the first ones I snapped. The only thing I don’t like is how blown out the sky is. I could probably darken it up in Photoshop a bit more…I shot in RAW, so there might be some other fixes I can come up with.
