This is what a yard looks like in Tucson. I love it. I never understood grass with all its maintenance and water waste. Give me a good ol’ gravel yard any day. I took this with the fairly crappy camera on my phone but still love the composition.

The sky just blew on in
I took a bunch of shots of the sky as it changed, I must have 10 totally different skies in 10 minutes. I love the mountains of New Mexico- and when my mom pointed out her whirlygig, it made the perfect silhouette. Silhouettes have always been something I was artistically drawn to- I paint them, photograph them, am endlessly fascinated by them.
We can’t forget about Rooster, other pretty boy
I think that was his name. The warm light and sharp focus on the eyes combined with the backdrop that looks painted makes me very happy with this image. People who’ve seen it have complained that most of the horse is cut off, but I wanted to be right up in his face.
Bob, pretty boy
The late fall light was perfect, and Bob just stared me down and didn’t twitch except to try and make the fly you can see on his face move away. I’ve got this one on my wall.
Fall Flowers in New Mexico
Finally processing some fall images from a trip to NM- makes me look forward to spring! I love the colors, I have a few others with close ups of insects that I’ll have to post as well.

Dust Storm Rising – Deming, NM
The dust storm grew behind, metal rattling and voices howling. Before we turned tail against the angry stinging sand, a train rumbled by, the empty windows of this abandoned place staring desolate through the flashes of space between cars.
Nyx, Doggess of the Night
Miss gorgeous loves to pose- I named both of my dogs after gods since it’s so easily transposed. Nyx is the little-known Greek goddess of the night…a fitting name I’d say. I used a great Photoshop action for her eyes (from thepioneerwoman.com), a few tweaks to the raw files, and there we go.
Falling Light
It is pretty amazing how many photos it took before I figured out how to capture the lens flare AND keep the exposure light enough to see the leaves. I’d like to see it a little brighter still, but love the beautiful golden color + light. I’m a-lernin.
Chinese Shadow Painting in the Desert
Something about the layers of shadow drew me to our wall the other afternoon…the light was bouncing around from so many directions that it looks almost like a Chinese ink painting. I love this shot.
